subVERSE

subVERSE has been bringing its unique blend of political satire, comedy and drama from new international writers to audiences in London and Edinburgh since November 2004.

Having premiered at The Chelsea Theatre in London, subVERSE has been bringing a new programme of high quality political theatre shorts to Theatre 503 every month since 2005. In August of that year, we successfully transferred the show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for 24 performances, with a combination of the best of our previous pieces, and some striking new work. In 2006, we continued our residency at theatre503 and performed elsewhere around London along with continuing our relationship with the

Wandsworth Stop the War Coalition, the Park Road Pilot, and a variety of other cutting edge theatrical ventures.

Expect more of the best fresh new political writing to come out of the US and UK, together with some old favourites. It'll make you laugh out loud, listen, and think about the current geo-political climate and New World Order. Satire has never been so apt, angry, funny and moving.

Since it began in November 2004, subVERSE has premiered hundreds of pieces of new political writing by over thirty-five playwrights and poets. subVERSE has raised money and awareness for over 26 different local, national and international charities, while delivering its unique blend of theatre to packed-out audiences.

British Theatre Guide called the show 'hip, current, political, sharp, dark, engaging, and stylish' and said

'In its critique of the modern political and social landscape, subVERSE renders oft-used critical superlatives like "brilliant" and "remarkable" hollow.'

Edinburgh Fringe bible Three Weeks wrote

'This is a cracking piece of political theatre, which is both hard hitting and thought provoking. The acting from all members of the cast is superb... This is political satire as it should be'
